LEARNING STRATEGIES RELATED TO RESEARCH
PERSONALIZED LEARNING is an educational approach that tailors learning around each individual student’s needs, interests, and abilities. Each student is given differentiated instruction based on their personal learning characteristics.
PEER LEARNING is the process of students learning with and from each other. This is usually facilitated through teaching and learning activities such as student-led workshops, study groups, peer-to-peer learning partnerships, and group work.
COLLABORATIVE LEARNING can occur peer-to-peer or in larger groups. Peer learning, or peer instruction, is a type of collaborative learning method that involves students working in pairs or small groups to discuss concepts or find solutions to problems. Similar to the idea that two or three heads are better than one, educational researchers have found that through peer instruction; students teach each other by addressing misunderstandings and clarifying misconceptions.

WHY USE COLLABORATIVE LEARNING
Research shows that educational experiences that are active, social, contextual, engaging, and student-owned lead to deeper learning. The benefits of collaborative learning include:
- Development of higher-level thinking, oral communication, self-management, and leadership skills.
- Promotion of student-faculty interaction.
- Increase in student retention, self-esteem, and responsibility.
- Exposure to and an increase in understanding of diverse perspectives.
- Preparation for real-life social and employment situations.

“PLAY TO EACH OTHER” WORKSHOPS FOR ALL INSTRUMENTS
A series of class sessions with many essential benefits, such as gaining confidence while playing for others, understanding the value of listening to each other, and being able to share thoughts about the music comfortably. Dr. Tem encourages his students to drive the mood of the discussions, with the goal of instilling a sense of accomplishment and pride. Popular topics include musicality, musical form, and knowledge of the composer, including brief music history. Students receive invitations to these sessions regularly. Up to two workshops per year are included as part of the Monthly Subscription Program.

2023 ANNUAL STUDENT RECITAL
Video: 36 of our students demonstrated their skills at TSU's Recital Hall, on August 6,2023 .
He has a creative approach to teaching children via the use of technology and imagination which makes the lesson fun and entertaining.
We enrolled in the buddy program where our son takes a joint lesson with another matched student. It’s been amazing to see them play off of each other, push each other to do better and learn from each other.
Both of my sons are excited about the piano lessons with Dr.Tem. They don’t need additional guidance for their practice routine since the program has rewards and scores and they like to practice by themselves.
Dr.Tem is super into trying new apps to get kids engaged and learning. I had great teachers growing up, but I wonder how many Grammys I would have won if Dr. Tem was my piano teacher!
Dr. Tem is an amazing teacher! Both of my kids love being a part of his “piano class”. He tailors his lessons to each child and their ability.
The best part about the “buddy program” is it encourages kids to play in coordination as well as make learning more fun, looking up to each other. I drive almost 90 mins for a 30 mins class, which explains a lot.
His teaching method is thorough, instructive, and fun, which helps build a solid foundation for kids to develop their interests and skills in playing piano.
A master tells you what he expects of you, a teacher awakens your own expectations. Dr. Tem plays piano masterfully, but he is truly a teacher and artist first.
